What is SERP Tracking?

SERP (Search Engine Results Page) tracking monitors where your website ranks for specific keywords in search engines like Google. Instead of manually searching for your keywords, Meirra automatically checks your positions and records the data over time. This gives you: - **Accurate position data** - Know exactly where you rank - **Historical trends** - See how rankings change over time - **Competitor insights** - Compare your positions with competitors - **SERP feature detection** - Know when you appear in featured snippets, local packs, and more

How SERP Tracking Works

When you click 'Track Rankings' on the Keywords page, Meirra: 1. **Queues your keywords** - All tracked keywords for your website are added to the tracking queue 2. **Fetches real search results** - We query Google's actual search results for each keyword 3. **Finds your position** - We scan the results to find where your domain appears 4. **Records the data** - Position, date, and any SERP features are saved 5. **Updates your dashboard** - You can see the results immediately Tracking typically completes within a few minutes, depending on how many keywords you have.

Understanding Credits & Quotas

SERP tracking uses credits from your monthly quota: - **1 credit = 1 keyword check** - Each keyword tracked uses one credit - **Monthly reset** - Your quota resets on the first of each month - **Tier limits** - Pro plans include 500 credits/month, Enterprise includes 2000 credits/month - **Credit display** - View your remaining credits in the SERP Credits card on the Keywords page **Tips to maximize your credits:** - Focus on your most important keywords - Track weekly instead of daily for stable keywords - Use Google Search Console data for free position insights on existing rankings

SERP Features Explained

Beyond position, we track special SERP features that can significantly impact traffic: - **Featured Snippets** - The answer box at the top of search results - **Local Pack** - Map results for location-based searches - **People Also Ask** - Expandable question boxes - **Image Carousel** - Image results shown inline - **Video Results** - YouTube and other video content - **Knowledge Panel** - Information boxes on the right side When your website appears in these features, we'll flag it in your results. These positions often get more clicks than traditional organic results.

Troubleshooting

**No position found?** If a keyword shows no position, your website may not rank in the top 100 results for that term. This is normal for new keywords or highly competitive terms. **Position different from manual search?** Search results vary based on location, device, and personalization. Meirra uses neutral, non-personalized searches from a consistent location for accurate tracking. **Credits not updating?** Credit usage updates after tracking completes. If you triggered tracking recently, refresh the page after a few minutes. **Button disabled?** The Track Rankings button is disabled when: - You have no credits remaining - A tracking job is already running - Your plan doesn't include SERP tracking (Basic tier)
