Getting Started with Sequences

Email sequences let you send a series of automated emails to contacts over time. Instead of sending one-off campaigns, sequences nurture your leads through a structured flow — from introduction to follow-up to conversion. Each step in the sequence can have its own template, timing delay, and conditions. Sequences run automatically once activated, so you can focus on other work while your outreach continues in the background.

Creating a Sequence

To create a new sequence, go to Email > Sequences and click 'New Sequence'. Give it a clear name that describes its purpose (e.g., 'New Lead Follow-Up' or 'Post-Demo Nurture'). Add steps by choosing a template and setting the delay between each email — for example, send step 1 immediately, step 2 after 3 days, and step 3 after 7 days. Each step can use a different sending account and template. Assign a contact list to enrol recipients, and activate the sequence when you are ready to start sending.

Triggers and Conditions

Triggers control when contacts enter and exit your sequence. You can start a sequence when a contact is added to a specific list, when they are imported, or when they are manually enrolled. Exit conditions stop the sequence for a contact when a goal is met — for example, if the recipient replies to any email in the sequence or clicks a specific link. You can also pause individual contacts without stopping the entire sequence. These controls prevent over-sending and ensure your outreach stays relevant.

Monitoring Performance

Track your sequence performance from the dashboard. Key metrics for each step include: send count, open rate, click rate, reply rate, and bounce rate. The overview shows how many contacts are currently active in the sequence, how many have completed all steps, and how many exited early due to a reply or other trigger. Use step-level metrics to identify where recipients drop off and optimise those specific emails. Pause underperforming sequences, adjust the content or timing, and reactivate when ready.
