Getting Started with Templates

Email templates give you a head start on every campaign and sequence. Instead of writing emails from scratch each time, build reusable templates that keep your branding consistent and your messaging sharp. Templates support rich text formatting, images, buttons, and dynamic merge variables that personalise each email for the recipient. Start from a blank canvas or choose from professionally designed starter templates.

Building a Template

To create a new template, go to Email > Templates and click 'New Template'. The drag-and-drop editor lets you add text blocks, images, buttons, dividers, and social links without writing any code. Arrange sections by dragging them into position, and style each element with custom colours, fonts, and spacing. Save your template with a descriptive name so your team can find it easily. You can duplicate any template to create variations without starting over.

Using Merge Variables

Merge variables let you personalise each email with recipient-specific data. Insert variables like {{firstName}}, {{company}}, or {{city}} directly into your template text or subject line. When the email sends, each variable is replaced with the actual value from your contact list. If a variable has no value for a contact, you can set a fallback (e.g., 'there' instead of a missing first name). Variables work in subject lines, body text, preview text, and button labels.

Previewing and Testing

Before using a template in a campaign, preview it across desktop and mobile views to ensure it renders correctly. The built-in preview mode shows exactly how your email will appear in common email clients. Send a test email to yourself or your team to check formatting, links, and merge variable rendering. Review your template on both light and dark mode backgrounds, as some email clients invert colours. Fix any issues before saving — a polished template means better engagement on every send.
